Tuesdays With Dorie: Madelines

Just a quick post this week (don't kick me for not being verbose - my excuse is the same - school).

In the midst of finals I managed to whip up a batch of the Earl Grey madelines from the 'playing around' recipes.

I've always wanted to make madelines (I'm not sure why) but without the proper pan I was forced to improvise. I made a half batch with mini muffin pans, which turned out good, except only one ended up with the madeline baby bump.

I saw someone mention substituting spoons for the correct pan. I tried this as well, with less than stellar results (probably due to my over-filling with the refrigerated batter).

This is my weekly submission to Tuesdays with Dorie, hosted by Laurie of quirky cupcake. Be sure check out all the other creations by my fellow TWD bakers. A big thank you to Tara of Smells Like Home for picking this weeks recipe, check there to find the whole thing.

I know I'm not supposed to, but I really LOVE that spoon photo--made me smile. Your minis are sweet, and you definitely have a bump! Good luck with finals, too!

Cool mini cupcake cookies! I think the spoon thing looks pretty cool too, in the context of a photograph anyway. And, hey, that plate you've got? I have that! Well not the plate, but a bowl and a little scalloped mini dish bowl thing. Awesome.

I like your muffin Madelines--they came out very nice.
The spoon method--eh, not so much, but as others said, the photo is a great one!

I like the mini-muffin pan idea. I saw the spoon idea somewhere else too and I don't think it worked for them either, but it's intriguing...

Love your madeleine minis. Sorry about the spoon. Give you so much credit baking and cramming for finals! Hope you did well on your finals and I am sure you will be glad when it is over!

Very cute in mini muffin form! Unless I get a larger madeleine pan (mine only holds six), I will likely make mine as mini muffins next time.

Hmmm...the spoon photo gave me an idea. Say you did it on purpose, melt some chocolate, and have a fondue party? Looks like it'd still be a tasty little guy :-)

Great way to improvise! I opted out of the madeleines this week because I didn't have the special baking pan; I wish I had been more innovative this weekend. Your little cakes look delicious!
